Alcorn, asking that he be paid for his service during the election term of 1868, and that part of that money be sent to his family and the balance sent to him. He also explains an accident with his gun, which discharged when he dropped it and put sixteen buckshot through his left ankle.

He also states that Johnson/Jackson may have fled to Louisiana.

Shepherd notes that some of the certificates are held by persons in neighboring states and the contractors who have worked on the new courthouse for Tippah County, Mississippi are demanding the remainder of their pay.
