The State of Mississippi.
Carroll County

This day personally appeared Before me J. H. Doyle as act=ing Justice of the Peace in and for Carroll County John H. Kent Who being Sworn in due form of law saith on Oath That he has the Police management and entire Control of his own farm and that of Joseph Herring, James Adaise, Mrs. Sherron, Susan Pitman and that these is some twenty-eight or thirty negroes on the several places, and that he is the only male Adult Person on them also personally appeared Rev. C. C. Sec and being Sworn in like manner Saith on Oath that he is personally acquainted with affiant and the families that he is attending the business of and believes affiants Statement to be true
