Sir

The undersigned begs leave to state to your Hon. that he is now about 52 years of age, that he is a native of Athens County State of Ohio and for the last thirty years a citizen of Noxubee County Mississippi, That he ever has enter=tained sentiments of Loyalty to the Constitution of the United States & the Union of the States Thereunder and that he has this day taken willingly & in good faith the Oath of Amnesty. And believing from the Proclamation of the President that Loyal Citizens will be prefered to fill offices, where they can be found, in the States heretofore in insurection The undersigned would respectfully apply for the office of Collecter of Internal Revenue for this district
