It becoming necessary to appoint a sheriff for the County of Madison, I take pleasure in recommending for your favorable consideration the Claims of Robert M. Burton former Treasurer of our County.

The fact of his having been elected to a post of such importance as County Treasurer is, I hope, sufficient ev-idence of the confidence the people of Madison County repose in him—
