To Governor Charles Clark
State of Mississippi—

The undersigned beg leave respectfully to represent, that, Kennedy Har-rington, and R. B. Campbell have filed their appli-cations for the office of dispensers of Spirituous Liquors, for Holmes County, that, they live in the same Beat, some two or three miles apart, and twelve ^miles^ or there-abouts, south east of Lexington, the County Site—

They further state, that, they are not aware of the intentions of said dispensors, and do not Know whe-ther or not, they intend to Keep a supply of spirituous liquor on hand, as the Stature contemplated, but whether they do or not, the town of Lexington and the portion of the county, north and west thereof, would be virtually deprived of the use and benefit of said liquor, on accounty of the distance, and the additional fact that neither of said dispensers are engaged in any regular business, and are not pre-pared to attend, promptly, to dispensing liquor, even were a person from, a distance, to apply—

We therefore suggest Mr John A Durden, as a man every way suitable for the position, engaged as he is, in the Drug Business, here, and respectfully request you to appoint him—
