Brandon Dec 16^th 1864

Gov Clark on the 4^th of this month I sent you a package made of Comon Raping paper the ends doubled over and sealed down to the Directed side, and directed thus "Gov C Clark Executive Office Macon Miss" and hearing nothing from the Office in regard to it I have become very uneasy untill I saw Col Layton yesterday who told me that he was present in the Office when you received the package; the Amount of money was marked also on the package thus "$825" I sent the package by M^r F. L. Brown for which I have his receipt; I sent the reports on the next Tuesday morning by the Express, which if they have come to hand pleas inform me; it was the money I had deposited from time to time with Taper & Marlowe for you Excuse my want of practicle form, for it is a buisnness I am little accustomed to; I have tried to make it as plain as I could
