Dear Governor

I hope you will not think me presumptious when I tell your Excellency that I sincerely hope you may find and openning in your pure & noble heart only in accordance with true Justice to unbar & unlock the prison door & let go the broken hearted R. H. Breckinridge sentenced for the killing of Dr Burton in Meridian

I know that an appeal to your sympathies may be futile & uncalled for, I know full well how you know all about the history of the unfortunate & sad occurrence. I feel to know that the law has been fully vindicated that in his release Justice would not go unwhipped, and that a distressed wife & children would have their broken hearts partially bound up & their wants better cared for—I also feel that he only done what all other men, who are en-titled to bear the impress of God would have done under similar circumstances—

For these reasons I pray your may find it in accordance with your pure purposes to release by pardon the said Breckinridge
