Dr Sir:

At a meeting of the committee on Public Buil-dings held at their room in the city of Jackson on the 1^st day of February 1871, it was

Resolved, That the committee dispense with the Services of a watchman of the capitol from and after this date.

Therefore your Services as watch-man of the capitol are dispensed with from and after the present time.

The committee will very shortly make provisions to pay you for your Services as watchman of the capitol up to this date

In view of the urgent necessity of a Night Watch-man at the Capitol, we, the undersigned State Officers, would respectfully recommend Mr D. S. Downing as a competant & trustworthy person to fill the position. he has been in the employ of the Committee on Public Buildings for some months in that capacity, and gave entire satisfaction.
