Sir,

Several weeks since Ihadthehonor toreceive in answer toan application, an impression of theGreatSeal of theStateof Mississippi, for the purpose of procuring a fac—simile engraving for the work of which I enclose thetitle.

On the 7th of April, the Printing House of Weed Parsons and Co. ^of Albany^ in which this work was in press, was burned, and with it all engravings done or in progress, and all "copy" of engravings not begun. The plates of Vol 1. were saved, and work has been fully resumed with prospect of early completion.

Under these circumstances I would respectfully ask you to send me another impression of the seal, to replace the one recently
