Governor of the State of Mississippi

Respected Sir

Enclosed you will find a petition in my behalf signed by some of the most respectable, worthy & influential cittizens of Choctaw Co in which they pray the interposition of the powers you control, [gap] In said petition they fully put forth the facts of the case. Therefore I deem it wholy unnecessary to refer to them in my letter.

If the evidence embodied is sufficient and you should think it consistent with your official duty. please grant the prayer and in so doing you will render one of your fellow cittizens under the most lasting [unclear]
