To his excellency J J Pettus Governor
of the State of Mississippi

We the Undersigned Citizens of Ellistown respectfully petition your Excellency to so change the Eight Section of an act Entitled an Act to incorporate the Town of Ellistown in the County of Pontotoc approved Feb 10^th 1860 as to Extend the jurisdiction of the Justice of Peace and Constable elected by provision of said act. that they have power to issue & serve any civil process, necessary for the ~~Contracting~~ ^collecting^ of any debt Contracted within the Corporate limits
