Gov Petus

Dear Sir

This will inform you that your State has wronged me out of at least $6000 In my Judgment By ceceding from the union from the fact that I obtained let-ers Patent on an Improvement in cotton Scrapers Sept the 13^th 1859 from the united States Pat-ent office and have not had time to introduce and Sell the Invetory

Now Sir I ask of your Execlan-cy the favor selling to your Repub-lick through you the Rite of Said Improvement [say?] this Before your honoable Legeslature and say to them I am a States Rights man and a citisan of Shelby County Tennessee a native of Maury County Tennessee and Sir there are 200 of scraper in use in your State and have Given Entire sates faction I write this to you Because

I am Poor and it has cost me all that I hat to Introduse the Improvemt deal not with as stranger or an Imposition I have 2 litte Children and ther are Both Girls and I have not moor then one hand on the same Body that will count on the same Body and a widoer at that dont think my Potilical Pro-clivities any thing But if you thin-k my Prayer worth a hearing Wr-ite to me and I will send you a speciman of the scraper so that you may Judge for self this is a few my thoughts you will do me the honor of answering me as soon as Posible This is small Business for a Governer of an indipendant Republick But Pov-erty drives to this Extrematy Please let me here from you soon
