Holly Springs January 29^th 1861

To His Excelancy
Gov. J J Petus

Sir

We were called upon this morning by Mr. and Mrs. M^cDeormott & requested to learn from you whether you had issued your requisition an the Gov. of the State of Louisiana for John Tilford who some weeks robed them of about Elevin hundred & twenty dollars. Mrs. M^cDeormott visited you on her way to New Orleans & desired of you make the requisite order for the offender she discovered when at New Orleans that Tilford had been arrested for some offense against the laws of that City or state. The charge in La. was not of a grose character his trial is set for the coming Friday should your requisition not be sent forward & proper=ly acted upon Tilford may be released.

Mr & Mrs M^cDeomott desire us to request of you to reply immediately to us. And advise them through us what had been done in the matter. & by so doing you will advance the cause of Justice & probably secure to the proper owners a considerable sum of money
