To the Governor of the State of Mississippi

We the undesigned members of the Pontotoc Dragoon of the State of Mississippi, would most respectfully, state that the position we occupy in the army is very unsatisfactory to us, we are hence under Tennessee officers enrolled as Tennessee troops, we would ask if you approve of the position we occupy, if not you would confer a great favor on us by calling us back to our own gallant State, and place us in such position as would be agreeable to us as Mississippians. Your attention to this request would greatly oblige us.
