To his Excellency, Govr. Pettus
Jackson Missi:

Dear Sir

at the Request of the Ladies of this place Constituting the Middleton Military aid Socity who are laboring to assist in Clothing the Soldiers in the Army, having understood that your Excellency has engaged all the [Linens?] and all the Jeans &c Manufactured at Jackson as also all at Bankston, and they have in view to make pants & over coats for 2 companies "The Winona Stars & the Stephens Guards". Palmer Capt of the last. Booth of the ^first^ company, they will want 2000 yards for the above pur-pose, Can it be had through your instrumentably from Either point [gap] and at the Earliest period

They wish to be Supplied that thay may have the garments in readiness by frost, which we presume is not far ahead of us
