Governor of Mississippi

Dear Sir

The Young Ladies of F. F. College being desirous of presenting the "Home Guard" with a Secession banner and it being impo-ssible for them to do so, until they learn what will be the "Coat of Arms" of the State, I write to enquire your decision. Col Autry—informed me this morning that there was a Committee appointed—to Select a Suitable "Coat of Arms" for the State. Composed of yourself Hon. A. B. Dilworth & others.

The presentation of the banner will take place on the 8^th day of January. You will perceive ~~them~~
