To the Executive Authority of the State of Mississippi.

Whereas, it appears by the annexed document, which is hereby certified to be authentic, that Rudolph Brauss stands charged with the crime of Swindling committed in the State of Louisiana: And information having been received that the said Rudolph Brauss has fled from Justice and taken refuge in the State of Mississippi.

Therefore, I Thomas Overton Moore Governor of the State of Louisiana, have thought proper, in persuance of the provisions of the Constitution and Laws of the ~~United~~ Confederate States, to demand the surrender of the said Rudolph Brauss. as a fugitive from Justice, and that he be delivered to Charles Petrie who is hereby appointed Agent on the part of the State of Louisiana to receive

RECORDER'S OFFICE---SECOND DISTRICT.

PERSONALLY came and appeared before, ~~ANATOLE BLACHE~~ ^L Gastruel, Recorder or the Second District, of the City of New Oreans, duly commissioned and sworn as Jutsice of the Peace,

Francis Bohe' [gap] Who being duly sworn, declares That on lasy month he received for change, a One dollar Bill signed by one R. Brauss & C^o,, Redeemable in Confederate funds, in amounts of Ten dollars, that your affaint went ot the shop of said R. Brauss & C^o,,and opon said bill being presented for payment, R Bruass was not to be found, nor could any information be given as to his wherabout, all of which in violation of the revised statutes sections 18^th 79^th pages 37 and 147. your affaint from informations received believes him to be a fugitive from Justice, now concealed in the State of Mississippi.

Wherefore your affaint charges the said R. brauss & C^o with violations of Sectons 18^th & 79^th of the revised statutes, and prays that he be arrested ^& dealt with according to law
