Dear Sir

By the re-organization of my regiment (Bates 2^nd Leut) I am deprived of my commission that of 1^t Lieut and am out of the service but desirous to enter again

From the 1^st Oct 61 until 1 March 62 I was in the batteries at Evansport Va, my company having charge of 1 rifle 64 & 29 nine inch Dhalgrens I like that branch of the service better than any other & would prefer engaging in battery service. I think I am competent to take charge of a small battery & am a good shot was the best shot at Evans-port. There are several naval officers here in the city who with my Col will take pleasure

in giving me the proper credentials as to capability etc These officers were serving on that post with me & are fully competent to judge of my fitness for the position

I understand that you are desirous of securing to the state officers of this description for the state & believing my self competent I offer my services.
