Commonly known as the Wayne Rifles and the Wayne Guards, Company B of the 13th Regiment, Mississippi Infantry (Confederate) was first organized as Company C on April 17, 1861 in Wayne County, Mississippi under the command of Capt. W. J. Eckford and served in the Eastern Theater. It was reorganized as Company B on April 26, 1862 under the command of Capt. S. H. Powe. It was later commanded by Capt. D. M. McRae.
