Commonly known as the Pontotoc Minute Men, Company A of the 2nd Battalion Cavalry, Mississippi Militia (Confederate) was organized on September 8, 1862 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi under the command of Capt. John T. Weatherall and served in the Western Theater. It was later commanded by Capt. Armistead B. Cole. (HMU, 38; DR-MSOR, 922, FS)
