The 2nd Regiment, Alabama Cavalry (Confederate) was organized in May 1862 in Montgomery County, Alabama under the command of John N. Carpenter and served in the Western Theater in Ferguson's Brigade. It was later commanded by Cols. Richard Gordon Earle and Fountain W. Hunter. (FS; NPS-BU; ADAH)
