The 124th Regiment, Illinois Infantry was organized on September 10, 1862 at Camp Butler, Illinois, and served in the Western Theater. It was assigned to the Army of the Tennessee, and later, the Department of the Gulf. It was mustered out of service on August 15, 1865. (NPS-BU; Wiki; MSR-US)
