Commonly known as the Minute Men of Attala, Company I of the 13th Regiment, Mississippi Infantry (Confederate) was first organized as Company D on April 19, 1861 in Attala County, Mississippi under the command of Capt. L. D. Fletcher and served in the Eastern Theater. It was reorganized as Company I on April 26, 1862 under the command of Capt. A. G. O’Brien. (HMU, 20; DR-MSOR, 454)
