Currently located in Benton County, Lamar was founded as early as 1837. Formerly located in Marshall County, on April 13, 1876 it was merged into Benton County, where it remains. Presently, Lamar is an unincorporated area that is not governed by a local municipal body. (Wiki; Atlas-HCB)
