Yazoo City Feb 25^th 1863

Sir,

Having been authorised by the President of the Confederate States to construct a war steamer in order to comply with my instructions received from the Government

"to Wit"

The completion of the Vessel in the shortest time practicable I will require the services of Miles T. Brown in Capt Johnsons Company of Yazoo Minute Men,

I therefore respectfully request that he be detailed to work upon said Vessel, Which is now in progress of building at this place, provided however that if the said Miles T Brown should leave this service for any cause except from disability or upon the completion of this work he will promptly report the fact to the Officer Commanding
