My Dear Sir

I have been informed that the Public Lands in this State will be disposed of by the State and that you will consequently appoint a Register and Receive at the office for this District. In that connection I take the liberty of recommending Mr James M. Bradley Jr. of this place as every way qualified for the position from having been for several years connected with the office he is very familiar with its business details—he was besides one of the warmest and most earnest advocates of the secession movement and is a worthy man in every sense of the word.

This appointment as Register and Col O. C. Dean as Receiver would be very satisfactory to the people here
