Dear Sir

By the recom-mendation of a friend I take the liberty of addressing you on the subject of my Pension which is or was payable at Jackson by D. N. Barrows agt. I have been perplexed very much about drawing my pension having been in this state two years I am entitled to $48, per annum and I have made several Declarations with Powers of Attorney to draw but have never received but $25, and I am justly due from the Government or my attorneys $72.

The request or favor which I ask of you is this to inquire at the Pension Office & ascertain what amount is due me unpaid (Subsequent to 4^th last Sept. I sendt a power of Atty to J. D. Elliot Esq. to draw $48, but have never heard from him If he should have drawn my money you will oblige me by informing me where he is if you knows)

Also I wish to know whether since the ordinance of Secession my pension will be paid at Jackson as formerly or not I hope you will excuse me from intruding my private business on one encumbered with the business of State but I know not better how to obtain the desired information

Please answer me immediately & commend some honorable gentlemen to act as my atty.
