Dear Sir

Being a member of the Missi College Rifles at Clinton who are expecting soon to be ordered out and having the Post office of Clinton besides a good deal of other unsettled business on hand I find that I can=not consistently leave—I asked releaf & offered a Substitute but the Capt. said that you were the one to apply to for releaf after having been mustered into Service I therefore appeal to your Excellency under the circumstances to releave me which I hope you will not refuse to do If Convenient please answer by the Bearer—& you will greatly oblige
