Govener petis Dear sir I am reqestid to say to yo in con cideration of the fearful Dificulties that our cuntry is in and our Entire Dependance upon the greate arbiter of Battles for suckcess that you apoint A regular Day of each month for fasting and prayer in our state By all the churches and that on those days Bisness houses and men close up and give them selvs to pray, for our suckcess. we reqest ^that^ the fast Be proclaimed at as early A day as posible in the publick prints with your signature Signed in Be half of the M E Church at Harmony By S B Carson a minister of the M E Church South for twenty years who feels and unusual intrust for our country my the god of peace direct you in your administration yours respectfully
