His Excellency John J Pettus

Governor of Mississippi

Dear Sir

I have for some time had a Company organized and mustered into the Service of the State of Mississippi. I was mustered in by Capt Inge of Corinth who Reported my Company to you I was attached to the 2^nd regiment of Miss Volunteers Commanded by Col W C Falkner. I have never Rec^d my Commission, I was informed that Col Falkner had been to Jackson and had the Commission for the officers of all the new Companies. I waited on that account until the regiment was called together at Corinth Mississippi when I learned that he had no Commissions for the officers of my company. I spoke to Capt Inge and he said he would attend to it for me. I am here in the army without Commissions and I am anxious to get them So that I can determine the position of my Company and the rank of its officers. The officers are Jno M Stone Capt Geo W Latham 1^st Lieutenant John Irvin 2^nd Calvin J Hyatt 3^rd Lieutenant. Please forward Commissions for us immediately bearing the date on which my company was received.
