This Excellency John J. Pettus,
Governor of the State of Missi

Sir. As I wish to go on to Pensacola and Uniontown as agent for a society of ladies of this county to take clothing for the use of the companies who have gone from this place, and others who may need them, I have thought propper to ask you for a commission to that effect. I will not charge anything for my services, but want to go free of expense.
