Dr Sir

I was informed a few days since that you were in need of a Secratary. and having just been discharged from the Army at Pensacola. on account of disability (Chronic Rheumatism) I have taken the liberty of writing you. Being unable to perform military duty. I would like to get employment in any capacity, with you, in which I could be useful to you and also remunerative to myself in some degree. I am a South Carolinan, by birth and have been Book Keeping a number of years. Salary would not be so much of an object as employment.

I can furnish good references as to character &c, If you can give me employment I could go to work for you immediately, and at the Same Time you would confer a favor which will be duly appreciated. Please let me hear from you as Soon as convenient
