My Dear Sir.

The Senate has this day passed a Bill appropriating One hundred and fifty thousand dollars for Hospital purposes. The Bill may be reduced in the House to $100,000.⁰⁰ which, with the liberal private donations, will be ample for the purpose of establishing Hospitals for Louisiana Troops in Richmond, Nashville, Columbus and where=ever else they may be needed.

Since my mission has been so successful, I have been inclined to return to Nashville to take the supervision of Some Hospital. Rev Mr. Cuskey suggested to me, after I saw you, that it might be well for me to take charge of the Mississippi Hospital there, which after some reflection, I think might be the best. Knowing every body there, I could procure better buildings & on better terms—procure better nurses, better Hospital Supplies and save money to the State. I should cer=tainly take great pride in having the best Hospital in

the city, the best medical attention, the best nursing and also, in giving the fullest satisfation to all parties. Not the least important duty would be to look tenderly after the spiritual interests of the sick and to perform, or see performed in a proper ^manner^ all funeral services, correspondence &c

My Dear Sir, I make these suggestions modestly, yet with a firm confidence that I could make my services useful and acceptible to yourself and to the State. If you have not appointed a Superintendant, and consider me worthy, a note or dispatch to me in New Orleans care of the St. Charles Hotel, will command me at once.

P.S Since writing the above the Louisiana Bill has passed the lower House without reduction. Hope Mississippi will amend her Bill & make it at least $75,000.⁰⁰
