Col Madison McAfee

Dear sir

My son in law M^r Robt W Spencer from Shelby County Tennessee is now on a visit here with his family, where he has been for two or three weeks, he now wishes to return home by the way of Memphis, and the frequent change in traveling arrangements by Military authority has caused him to have some doubt as to his going home without a pass, he therefore requests me to write you on the subject, and wishes if necessary to obtain a pass for himself two Ladies child & servant girl, to Memphis, if necessary for him to have pass, please send it to me by return mail or as soon as convenient, this request is made to prevent delay in Jackson, your compliance will much oblige
