Dear sir

Our friend C. J. Liddell, has returned from his imprisonment as one of the Donaldson prisoners; his health is not such as to allow him to return, to immediate active duties in the field; he is how=ever anxious to serve the State or Confederacy; & would be pleased to accept any app=ointment you have to make

M^r Lindell has seen much service both in the Confederacy & in Mexico & I am satisfied will fill any appointment you may have to make to your entire satisfaction
