Dear Sir

Having heard a few days since salt could be had in your City Much cheaper than here & desiring of procuring some, I must trouble you to attend to it for me

I heard an exchange could be made for bacon 40 ^4^ bacon sides for one sack of salt, I have some four or five hundred pounds of bacon to spare and will trouble you to engage me Ten ^10^ sacks salt if the above arrangement can be made, If the arrangement cannot be made, please write me on what terms I can procure salt in your city—

My wife joins me in love to Cousin Sue & would be pleased to have you & family to visit us, no news all well in Tuscaloosa
