To His Excellency
The Governor of Mississippi,

Governor;

You will confer a great favor on me by informing me whether D^r Stuart White has been enrolled in your state, or as-signed as a conscript to any reg-iment. He settled at Glencoe, Bolivar county, in 1861, as ^a^ prac-ticing physician; was first a lieutenant, then captain, of a company of state troops employed in guarding the levees on the river; and about the end of the year accepted the presiden-cy of the Cypress Bend Lumber Company, at Cypress Creek, Chicot Co, Arkansas. I have been unable to hear anything of him since the enemy got possession of that portion of the Mississippi river,

but suppose he might have re-turned to Bolivar County.

If he is not enrolled among the militia or the conscripts from that county, you will confer a great favor on me by forwarding this if possible, to the Governor of Ark-ansas, as I am extremly anxious to hear from him.
