The State of Mississippi, Kemper County

Know all men by those present that I, Soloman Griffin of the County and State aforesaid, do hereby nominate and appoint Elisha Echnar? as My Agent and attorney in fact to receive and receipt in my name and Stead for any and all monies due me by the Confederate States of America upon a receipt given to me by the Agent of the Confederate States for the value of one horse, impressed from me by Said agent as aforesaid valued at five hundred dollars. The acts and doings of my said attorney in the promises, shall be as binding upon me Either in law or Equity as if I were in person to per forewith [?].
