Sir

I have received a telegraphic dispatch from Col T F Sevier directing me to furnish you with twenty (20) negroes for twenty (20) days at Grenada Miss

I enclose to you a blank Commission with instructions, which you will please fill up with the names of the Sheriff of Yallabosha County—

The Governor of Miss. has requested me to select the sheriffs of the different counties in Miss as impressing Agents to collect negroes laborers for service of the Confederate Government

You will pelase furnish me a roll of negroes, their owners and the nature & date of their employment, and employ an overseer selected by their owners for management—
