The State of Mississippi
Noxubbee County—

Personally came before the under signed Justice of the Peace in & for said County S. W Lyon & made oath that the order of Gen^l Lee endorsed by Governor Clark by which he is permitted to convey thirty bales of Cotton to the lines of the Enemy and bring out supplies by stipulation in Contract between him and Said Clark for the state Shall not be used in any way or for any purpose whatever except in such manner and in strict accordance with the purposes contemplated & ex-pressed in said Contract—

An agreement made and Executed into this 16^thJune 1864 between S. W. Lyon of the first part & Chas Clark Governor of Mississippi of the second part—"Witnesseth that said Lyon agrees to deliver to said Clark (700) Seven hundred pairs of Cotton Cards at Cost price not to exceed one ⁵⁰/₁₀₀ dolls per pair and an invoice of drugs & medicines at cost price in Federal money when purchased by said Clark may order, the goods to be delivered to said Clark at some Railroad in the cars in the state of Mississippi

The said Clark is to pay for the Cards drugs & medicines (the whole amount not to exceed Two thou-sand dollars when delivered by aforesaid at cost prices only in Confederate money or State money as he may elect—

The said Clark is to deliver to said Lyon ( which he has now accordingly done) a permit from the Confederate Commander of this department to transport cotton without molestation by Confederate authority through our lines to the lines of the Enemy to the amout of thirty (30) bales from any river landing or point in said Depart-ment to be transported or
