Printed statement from Colonel E. S. Fisher; October 18, 1864

Grenada, Oct. 18th, 1864.

In pursuance to orders from his Ex-cellency CHARLES CLARK, Governor and Commander in Chief, you are hereby re-quired to furnish, by the 1st Monday in November next, the President of the Gen-eral Court Martial convened at this place, in accordance with General Orders No. 69, a full and complete list of all persons liable to Militia duty in your county who failed to obey the Proclamation of August 13th, 1864.

All written excuses forwarded for the preliminary consideration of the Court must be sworn to by the parties, and sustained by the evidence of one or more credible and disinterested persons–which, if deemed insufficient, the parties will be required to attend in person. All failing to do so will be arrested and commit-ted for trial. You are authorized and empowered to call on all civil, as well as Militia Officers in your county to aid you in carrying out this order
