Calhoun County

A. M^cDonald Member of the Board of Police of Calhoun County State afore-said do hereby Certify, that about the 15^th day of December last, upon being informed by I L. M? Berry Agent for the County of Calhoun, for the Salt distributed to Said County for the use of the Indigent families of Our Soldiers, that the Salt had arrived at Okolona that wh in connexion with one of the Commissioners for the indigent families procured four teams and waggons, and started to Okolona for the Salt distributed to Said County that upon arriving within fifteen mile of Okolona we were informed that the place had been occupied by the Federal Cavalry under Gen Grierson and that the depot containing the Counties Salt had been destroyed by fire. We had great difficulty in even saving our waggons and teams, as we were at times from rumor almost surrounded by said Cavalry.

I certify upon honor to the truth of the above facts

The above facts are true as I as one of the Commission-ers of Said County was in Company with the waggons after Said Salt.
