during the Sitti-ng of the Legislature, I received a letter from Mr Netherly, (father=in law to Mr. Russ whose name you will find in the enclosed paper,) requesting me to call on you in regard to Said Russ. He is acting Dep^ty. Sheriff, and the conscript offi-cer is after him. I informed Mr Netherly you could do nothing on his bare Statements by letter, to Send you the certificate of the Shrff
