To His Execellency W L Sharkey Governor &c

The petitions of Frank Nimock a citizen of of Decatur Newton County state of Mississippi respectfully shewth that he is a minor under Military age, and that with a view of pro-viding some means by which he could pro-secute his education as well also as to supply the great need of the immediate neighborhood having a small capital he some short time since invested the same in a few articles of Medicine and common Dry Goods and this business was only intended as a temporary employment until he resumed his studies in school which will be about september next, likewise his entire stock purchased even at the present high price would not and did not exceed three to four Hundred Dollars and though he has disposed of the most of his purchases after defraying all expenses he is satisfied his note, profits will not exceed Fifty Dollars, the amount of Tax imposed by the proclamation of Your Excellency

Wherefore he prays Your Honor the circumstance considered he may be rel-ieve from the payment of said tax and as in duty bound he will ever pray &c
