Dear Sir At the surrinder I had ($100.) one hundred dollars in Gold—which I invested in merchandise for this place—

Since that time by the assistance of frinds I have increased my stock to about $400) Four hundred dollars, and in such goods that will not bear a heavy proffit. (viz) Factory Thread & Co To day I paid the tax $50—(borrowed ($20)—you will readily pereive that is a heavy percentage on my little stock, I hope you will consider my case and do what you may think right and proper in my behalf.
