Gov. Sharkey:

Dear Sir:

Persons interested in Mississippi lands, upon which taxes had been paid within a year or two of the rebellion, desire to know to whom taxes are to be paid—what taxes, whether State as well as national during the period of seces-sion, are to be paid,—and whether any action is necessary to keep the title perfect in case

the offices of the seceded State sold such lands for Confederate taxes, or confiscated them as property of alien enemies.

An early answer, with an indication of the coursse now necessary for non-residents in paying taxes, will be of interest to many throughout the country.
