Gov. Sharkey,

The ladies of Columbus have unanimously signed a memorial to President Johnson, asking the pardon of President Davis, and Gov. Clark—.

We have but little hope that it will avail anything with the Federal authorities, but as an expression of sympathy, it Cannot fail to be patifying to both themselves and their families, in this sad hour of humiliation and sorrow—.

We desire to know of Your excellency, if the Memorial, to which we refer, can be forwarded by you to Washington City?—. We can devise no means of sending it, so apt to secure it a favorable reception—. You may hesitate to give it your official endorsement, in which event, we will trust to your gallantry to forward it for us—!

If you inform us, of your willingness to comply with our request, we will immediately express the petition to you, and be most grateful to a kind Providence, who has granted us a Governor, whose courtesy and humanity is only equaled by his sagacity—.
