I have this morn-ing received a telegram from Col Zeigler Comdg 52 "U S C Infty" wanting to know if arrangements can be made to furnish his Reg^t along the Rail Road with fresh beef.

I have on hand, cattle to supply the troops at this Post ten days and can furnish Col Zeigler's Command with two day's rations of fresh beef. I would respectfully ask in-struction in regard to the matter,, He says also, rations are scarce,,

Col Zeigler must be supplied from Vicksburg and the Ch. C. S. there is in-structed to that effect; it will be well however for Col Zeigler, to send in his requisitions at once.

Meanwhile Captain Schooley may issue 2 days fresh beef to that regiment.
