To His Excellency the Governor of the State of Mississippi

Sir: It been made known to me that a certain Sambo Cook, William J. Cook and ^Jake Collins and James M^c,,rary^ of our County of Marshall, stands charged with having, in the month of January, 1869, Committed the crime of murder upon the body of one John B. Short of our County of Marshall as will fully appear from an authenticated copy of Indictment—herewith transmitted: And whereas, it has been made known to me that the said Sambo Cook and others hasve fled from justice, and isare now running at large in the State of Mississippi:

Now, Therefore, I, D. W. C. Senter, Governor of the State of Tennessee, in pursuance of the Act of Congress, entitled "An Act respecting Fugitives from Justice," do hereby demand that your Excellency will please cause the said Sambo Cook and others to be arrested, if to be found within the limits of the State over which you preside, and have ~~him~~^them^ safely delivered to James Franklin, who is appointed Agent on the part of this State to receive the said fugitive from the civil authorities of the State of Mississippi, to the end that he may be brought to the State of Tennessee and dealt with according to law.

In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand, and caused the Great Seal of the State to be affixed, at Nashville, on the 22^nd,, day of Sept., 1869.
