Please write to me, of what crime he stands Convicted, that the Last term of the Circuit Court, of your County, the witnesses on the indictment & the facts connected with the Case, as you may re-member, as inquiry has been made of me by the Maj Genl Ames—through his private Sec Jas. W. Benham

Requesting information in regard to Van Ta=bour.

Very respectfully re=turned to A. Y. Harper Esqr. I have examined the min=utes of the Circuit Court of the First District of Hinds County and do not find that any Such man was tried, or convicted at at the last term of Said Circuit Court. Thinking that Said Van Tabour might have been Convicted in the Second District of this County, I this morning made en=quiry at the Penitenti=ary, and find that there is no such person is in Said Peniten-tiary, nor is there any record there, that there ever was Such a man confined there.
